Correctional Safety Officer Certificate Program This 40-hour training program (4.0 CEU’s) is designed specifically for safety/fire officers working inside a correctional setting. The program will include related general industry standards in correctional settings, as well as review of the American Correctional Association Standards related to This certificate is collaboratively offered by the Bluegrass State Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence with consortium members Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky State University and Morehead State University. Students enroll in the certificate at their home university but may complete courses at any consortium member. The certificate requires a grade of “C” or better in 24 hours of required courses and 6 hours of specialized practicum. The courses required to complete the Industrial Fire Protection Certificate include: FSE 101, 120, 221, 300W, 305, 320, 360, OSH 261, FSE 480, and FSE 499(6). The Facilitation Center at EKU's Facilitation Skills Certificate Program includes dynamic sessions on topics such as strategic planning, dealing with difficult participants and effectively incorporating graphics, as well as, more hands-on practice with generating rich group discussions, building consensus, and creative brainstorming. Eastern Kentucky University will offer its First Line Supervision Certificate Program with the three-day Basic Core Concepts I course on February 6, 7 and 12, in Richmond and April 11, 18 and 25 in Corbin. Participants will then select an additional 18 hours (three days) of elective seminars to complete the Basic Supervision Certificate program.
